United Basalt Products Ltd was founded in 1953, following the merger of five companies engaged in stone crushing: Stone Utilities, Stone Masters, Stone & Bricks, Concrete Products and Building & Engineering. UBP’s main activities involve the production and sale of concrete blocks and aggregates. Over the years, the company extended its range of activities and opened up branches elsewhere on the island. Nowadays, UBP runs ten production and sales units in various places on the main island of Mauritius and also has a factory in Rodrigues as well as abroad, in Madagascar and Sri Lanka.
