Lead-zinc mine Suplja Stijena, which is located near the town of Pljevlja, was opened after the Second World War. In 2000, it halted operations and began insolvency procedures.
In 2006, Montenegrin Gradir was awarded a 20-year concession to operate the mine and pledged to invest some EUR 19 million in 5 years.
In mid-2010, the mine was reopened.
