Sadr Tamin Investment Company was founded in 1999 by the Social Security Investment Company (SSIC) of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Shasta). The company was initially established as a joint stock investment company in the ‘tile and ceramic’ industries. In 2008, the SSIC administration decided that the Sadr Tamin Investment company’s (STIC) activities must expand into both the metal and non-metallic minerals industries as well. The mining and petrochemical industries are considered to be strategic industries of the country, where the mining and related industries often generate impressive profits compared to other industries, both domestically and globally. According to the comparative advantage that Iran has with its significant mineral reserves, the industry is therefore one of the leading industries in the national economy.
