Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Public Shareholding Co was established 1967 under the name of Aria Shipping Lines as a result of the decision for the creation of Iranian National Shipping Company. Aria Shipping started its activity in by two small size vessels and 4 ocean going with the total capacity of 61,252 tones that had been put into service between the Persian gulf-Europe, Asia and America. After the Islamic Revolution in 1979 the authority renamed the Aria Shipping to Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL). Now, IRISL`s fleet includes 115 ocean-going vessels with the total capacity of 3.3 million tons deadweight. The main activity of these vessels is to transport steel construction products, timber, drums, bags and jumbo bags, food, industrial, chemical products and miscellaneous goods.
