Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Egypt, commonly known as ADIB Egypt is an Egyptian commercial bank, based in Cairo. It was incorporated in 2007 after UAE-companies Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC) acquired the local National Bank for Development and changed its name to Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Egypt. The National Bank for Development had been operational since 1980. The bank offers a range of Sharia-compliant banking products, catering to the needs of corporate and individual customers. Islamic banks don’t charge or accept interest payment, but have elaborated alternative type of products, based on profit-and-loss sharing and mark-up sale. The bank has also established investment banking and leasing arms. Shares of ADIB Egypt are traded on the Egyptian Stock Exchange.
