Polish PGNiG inks partnership deal with Pakistan’s MPCL

Poland’s state-run oil and gas major PGNiG has signed a partnership deal with Pakistan’s gas producer Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) so the two groups could review options regarding potential joint ventures (JV) in exploration and production, the Budapest Business Journal (BBJ) reported.

The deal is in line with PGNiG's development strategy in Pakistan as the group seeks to extend its presence and natural gas production in the area, PGNiG’s CEO, Piotr Wozniak, commented. Also, the Polish group aims to explore new market opportunities in order to reduce its reliance on gas supplied by Russian Gazprom.

PGNiG has been present in Pakistan for 20 years now and runs operations in the Kirthar production license area in the southwestern part of the country, BBJ noted.
