Peruvian economy grows 2.2% y/y in September

Peru’s economic activity rose 2.2% year-on-year in September, slowing compared to the previous months, Andina news agency reported citing figures released by the national institute of statistics and IT, INEI.

The construction sector increased by 3.84% y/y driven by greater internal consumption of cement. On the other hand, mining and hydrocarbons activity fell by 3.37% y/y during the month due to a sharp decline in metaling mining production.

Overall, the local economy expanded by 2.17% during the first nine months of 2019, INEI informed.
