Ghana’s maritime trade rises 14.3% y/y in H1 2018

Ghana saw the volume of goods passing through its two seaports rise by 14.3% on the year to 11.8 million tonnes for the first half of 2018, Ghana Web reported referring to data provided by the Ghana Shippers' Authority (GSA).

The success was attributed to the relative improvements and the boosted confidence in some of the country’s major macroeconomic indicators. For example, total import and export trade volume in the first six months of 2018 rose by 14.4% on the year to 11.2 million tonnes and total transit and transshipment trade volume increased by 11.49%.

Ghana's maritime trade outlook for the whole 2018 remains positive, Ghana Web added.
